Round 6 saw us travel up the highway to take on the dangerous Sebastopol.

The boys came out all guns blazing with the 1st quarter producing some of our best football for an 8 goal to nothing first term. Our pressure, method around the contest and efficiency going inside 50 all highlights.

Sebastopol fought back in the 2nd Q trying to close the game down and saw us go in at half time 48p up with the game well in hand. Baker, Bewley (3g) and Hind (1g) were dominating around the contest with big man Impey (1g) having a real presence around the ground.

Our boys renewed their focus at half time to continue their momentum. Johnson (4g) competing hard up forward and supported well by Edwards (2g), Fawcett (2g) and swingman Ward (2g) all hitting the scoreboard multiple times.

Our defence remained strong keeping Sebastopol to 5 goals for the day ably lead by Myers, Brett and Le Huray and we were able to run out 101p winners at the final siren.

A great momentum building team win with 14 individual goalkickers a highlight.

Onto hosting the young and dangerous Redan outfit next week.

Go Devils!

BEST PLAYERS: Ben Wood, Justin Runge, Bayley Bishop, Jackson Vella, Nicholas Hartifel, Riley Bishop

A hard fought game that went down to the wire.

Some late outs forced the magnets to be shuffled but it also allowed us to welcome back Beechy. A key player for our side.

First half was scrappy with both sides holding ascendency at times but unfortunately we were not able to capitalise on the scoreboard when we were on top.

A good team discussion at halftime and decision made to get back to basics and play to our strengths. It took some time into the third quarter before we flipped the switch but we finished the quarter very strong.

Runge was moved from defence to be a key forward, Caddy to the wing and JT deep. Jacko Vello had that look in his eyes and the brothers Bishop were on.

The next 24 minutes was pure Darley football. We went from 1 goal 9 at 3/4 time to finish with 7 goals 12.

Unfortunately we ended up falling 2 points short but the fight was there and the belief not far behind.

A huge shout out to Bayley Bishop who looks like he may be out for the rest of the year with a shoulder injury. He will be missed on the ground but welcomed in the coaches box.

We regroup and go again next week against Redan

Took the trip down to Sebastopol with the unfortunate chill and rain hanging overhead.

The team came out very strong and started the game on fire. The first half was mostly Darley with us being the only team to trouble the scorers. We took a while to adjust to the wetter conditions and over used our handballs but once we course corrected and move the ball by foot we were a much more efficient team.

The second half we decided to change things around and try some players in new positions, it was a good learning experience for us coaches and the players handled it very well. We were able to come away winners on the day and continue our season with some good momentum heading into games where teams are around us on the ladder.

Playing a bottom side can be dangerous as they have nothing to lose so we needed to ensure our minds were on the job. And though we only had 17 available players, the focus was all about playing to our strengths!

The first quarter started a bit congested as our opposition tried to limit our ball use but once the game settled, we were able to break it open kicking 7.2 to no score.  The best thing in the first quarter was Madalyn Clarke kicking the 2 goals needed for her to reach 300 career goals in which every player ran to congratulate her.

The second quarter led strongly by our midfield picked up where they left off in the first quarter driving the ball into our F50 and though a little wasteful we managed to kick another 5.5 to no score.

Halftime gave us an opportunity of moving some magnets around to allow some of the players who were in the backline an opportunity of seeing a little action, it was more important to see players in other positions (for future reliance) rather than cruise to a crushing victory. Even with magnets moved, we were still able to hold a commanding 98-point lead when the ¾ time siren sounded.

The last quarter was about remaining focused however, players were a little fatigued which led to some easy shots being missed and though we ran out victors by 130 points, we kicked 4.8 in the last quarter.
Best players: Burke (6 goals), Parsons-Jones, Oughtred, Wilson-MacDonald, DeBono & Hill
We still have a few things to work on to tidy up our game a bit more which will commence this week at training!

Our focus is now on our next opponent which is Bacchus Marsh at the Hub next Sunday at 11.15am.

Go Devils.

GOAL SCORERS: O. Cawthray, M. Nagle
BEST PLAYERS: Jaimee Smith, Olivia Cawthray

Another solid win for our A grade girls coming away with a 32 goal win against Sebas.

It was great to see the team building on what we have been working on at training as well as improving in areas we identified from last week.

The team should be proud of their performance as there were some really great displays of netball.

In exciting news, Shannon Blackman took the court for the first time this season and it was wonderful to have her back out there with us.

Another good win for our B grade girls this weekend against sebas, taking away a 13 point win!

Although the weather was certainly not ideal, everyone took on the cold and maintained a high work rate.

A special shoutout to Emily Fitzgerald who played her first game this weekend for the black and white – it was great to have her on board and can’t wait to see what she brings to the club 🖤🤍!

The C grade girls came away with a win against sebas by 7 goals.

These girls are building on their game play each and every week and are doing a great job with dealing with limited rotations at the moment due to a few injured team members.

Love your work out there girls.

A fantastic win by the D Grade girls this week.

We spent two of the four quarters trailing Sebas, but managed to dig our feet in and take out the win.

A lot of great plays and cooperation amongst all players and we continue to gel as the weeks go on.

In cold conditions it was incredible to get the win against the team sitting third on the ladder.

E grade girls had another successful weekend in Sebastopol coming away with a 5 point win.

In the last 2 weeks the team connection has really grown and has changed our game play completely.

We continue to train hard every week and work together as team to improve.

The girls should be extremely proud of their effort and improvement which is obvious on game days.

Bring on Redan and let’s get our third win in the book.

GOAL SCORERS: E. Raudino, E. Presnell, A. Harris
BEST PLAYERS: Ebony Raudino, Lily Normington

Although our unders 19s came away with a 2 point win we didn’t play our best form of netball, our effort and voice were not up to standard however we build form this each week to get better as a team.

On a positive note we take away the win and put in the hard yards at training this week!
