More than 200 local residents rallied at Bacchus Marsh Public Hall on Friday night in their thongs and finest VB singlets to attend a charity event with a true blue ‘Strayan twist.

Hosted by Darley Football Netball Club in partnership with local engineering firm, Rustel, the Bacchus Marsh Bogan Bingo Show raised $9000 for Camp Quality.

In a room of wall-to-wall flannel shirts and mullets, guests rocked out with their air guitars as 80’s power anthems blasted through the sound system.

Bogan Bingo is fast becoming one of Australia’s most popular fundraising events with people from all walks relishing in the opportunity to embrace their inner bogan in the name of a good cause.

Marty Dunen of the Darley committee said “it was great to so many people from the Darley family show up to support Camp Quality. We sold around 100 tickets within the club alone.”

Darley was inspired to support Camp Quality after hearing about the challenges faced by local families who have been touched by childhood cancer.

“I know of families who have had to leave their jobs to care for their sick children. Ongoing treatment is costly and some of these families can’t even afford to buy a meal at McDonald’s on a rare day out with their kids” Marty said.

“The emotional and financial challenges are unimaginable. Kids and families desperately need a break from those pressures and Camp Quality provide that.”
