Now that is how you kick off Round One!

The community showed up in the thousands today to cheer on their local sides this Anzac Day weekend. A minutes silence took place prior to the game to pay tribute to our diggers on this sunny day, perfect for a local a derby.

Many would say the universe has realigned and the Devils have won the local Derby against Bacchus Marsh with a 19 point victory. It was an extremely physical contest for all four quarters, with Bacchus Marsh going into the half time break 11 points up. With new coach Heath Scotland challenging the group at half time, it was hugely positive that the boys came out and stepped up to his challenge and got control of the game and came out with a hard fought win.

It was exciting to see the new recruits come out firing with Brian Graham exceptional through the middle and both ends of the ground. Kyle Docherty provided a big target up forward. Scotland’s move to middle of the ground after half time was pivotal and Leigh Spiteri’s five goals and pressure around the ground and ability to get forward to the footy was exceptional and earned him best on ground.

Final scores:

Darley 13.15. 93

Bacchus Marsh 10.14.74
